JBS Meat Processing
Feyen Zylstra helped JBS, a meat processing plant, with an upgrade of its facility by enhancing the lighting systems and relocating electrical conduits to improve safety and production efficiency. The facility’s carbon footprint was reduced through new fluorescent and induction lighting fixtures. HMI’s were also added to automate more of the company’s production equipment, thus increasing cattle processing output.
Eight major shutdowns, lasting three to four days each, were required to complete installation, but weekly production was never interrupted. FZ used service and construction employees from the Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Traverse City areas to meet the weekly manpower requirements of 30 to 40 employees on site and 75% of the labor was completed during weekends to accommodate the customer’s schedule.
