Dow Kokam’s 400,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility is a high-tech, world-scale manufacturing plant capable of producing lithium-ion batteries to supply the growing electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle market. The facility enables Dow Kokam to supply the most reliable and consistent energy solutions for their customers. Feyen Zylstra’s work included systems installation and more, such as providing the primary power, building management system, fire alarm, communication cabling, power and lighting distribution, outdoor cameras, and card access.

The battery plant project was developed in two overlapping construction phases. Phase I featured the construction of more than 400,000 square feet of space and provided industrial manufacturing operations with 45 foot clear heights and clean-dry rooms to facilitate unique manufacturing processes. Phase II added 600 million additional watt-hours and incorporated battery pack assembly equipment and production. The manufacturing facility development was built with insulated tilt-up concrete wall systems and features glass exterior design elements.
