Mercantile Bank Emergency Power System
Grand Rapids Emergency Power Installation
With the nature of their work hinging on secure and consistent power, Mercantile Bank decided that it was time to update their emergency power system. By replacing their existing 500Kw generator with two 200Kw generators they would increase the system's reliability and redundancy.
When it came time to replace the outdated generator, our team disconnected the power during a weekend-long planned outage. During the outage, we tied a temporary generator into the transfer switch to provide redundant, continuous power throughout the project. With the generator being situated within a concrete enclosure in the parking lot, our team used a crane to remove the outdated generator and lower in the two new generators. After the two new generators were installed, wired, and tested our team performed a second weekend-long planned outage where we disconnected power from the temporary generator and hooked it up to the new generators. With the updated emergency power system, in the case of an outage, the entire facility will remain fully operational.
Throughout the project, our team worked directly with Mercantile Bank, managing other trades in order to stay on schedule.
