E.B. Sonheim named 2026 Young Professional of the Year Finalist

We are proud to announce that E.B. Sonheim, Director of Marketing at Feyen Zylstra (FZ), has been named a 2026 Young Professional of the Year (YPOY) finalist by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Western Michigan Chapter.

The Young Professional of the Year Award annually recognizes professionals under 40 who are top performers in their field and display a clear vision for the future of the commercial and industrial construction industries.

Known for her commitment to excellence, passion for the trades, and ability to tell meaningful stories, E.B.'s impact is felt across FZ and beyond. Over the past 12 years, she has played a key role in shaping FZ's brand and voice, helping communicate who we are to employees, customers, and the communities we serve. With a focus on building strong customer relationships and enhancing the employee experience, E.B. has helped foster a culture where every FZer is valued and respected. 

E.B. is deeply committed to helping others and filling essential gaps in her community. Her ability to communicate the often overlooked and impersonal story of the trades in a compelling and robust way has increased visibility and influenced many to pursue these paths. Actively involved with ABC and formerly the National Association of Women in Construction, E.B. has built strong relationships across the industry, mentoring, and encouraging young people to explore careers in the trades.

E.B. has served on the EIC committee for the past ten years and is currently a board member for Rising Kites and a chair for the David D. Hunting YMCA board. She also mentors Calvin University students and was named a 2024 Athena Award finalist through the Grand Rapids Chamber.

The West Michigan YPOY award winner will be announced live at the Excellence in Construction Awards on September 17th at GLC Live at 20 Monroe. The other finalists are Bill Fryling from Buist Electric and Alaina Ekdom from EV Construction.
