How flexibility at FZ is helping me continue meaningful work while making space for what matters most.
I’ve spent much of my professional career “growing up” and into a leader at FZ. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to take on new challenges, step into big rooms, and be part of decisions that shaped the company. It’s been exciting, stretching, humbling, and rewarding.
When I first stepped into the Controller role, I quickly realized how complex and dynamic construction finance is—job costing, forecasting, compliance, and the constant puzzle of making sure the numbers reflect reality on the ground. But the best part wasn’t the spreadsheets; it was the collaboration. It was visiting job sites, sitting with project managers, leaders, and shared service teams to make sure every decision had the right information behind it.
Recently, I made the choice to step into a part‑time role so I could be more present with my family in this season. I initially worried it would feel like one of those “either/or”— either keep your career at full speed, or you step away entirely. But that wasn’t my story here. When I initiated the conversation, FZ leaned in with partnership. Together, we shaped a role that lets me continue contributing in meaningful, strategic ways while also creating space for my life outside of work.
That kind of flexibility doesn’t just benefit me; it strengthens the company. It retains talent, preserves knowledge, and shows other women—other parents—that ambition and family can coexist here.
I’m excited to stay connected to work that energizes me, while also being present for the people who matter most to me. This transition proves that career paths don’t have to be rigid. They can adapt to life’s seasons without sacrificing growth or opportunity. And importantly, this flexibility keeps doors open for future full-time roles, showing that progression doesn’t have to be linear.
The construction industry has always been about building things that last. When we create space for people’s real lives—especially for women balancing leadership and family—we’re building something even more important: a culture that helps people stay, grow, and lead.
I’m grateful to be part of that.
