Stadium Hall, Ferris State University’s newest residence building, was designed to foster student connection, collaboration, and engagement. Overlooking Top Taggart Field, the facility serves as more than student housing, providing modern study spaces, recreational areas, and gathering environments that support both academic success and community building in the heart of campus.

Feyen Zylstra provided the complete electrical infrastructure necessary to bring the university's vision to life. Our scope of work included power distribution, lighting, life safety systems, communications infrastructure, and emergency power systems that support a safe, reliable, and modern living environment. From preconstruction through final installation, our team worked closely with project partners to help deliver of one of the university’s most visible and impactful new facilities.

Quality expectations were exceptionally high throughout this project due to the building's visibility and its role as a flagship student housing facility. Our team maintained rigorous quality control standards to ensure every system was installed safely, consistently, and in alignment with project requirements. From power distribution equipment and lighting systems to fire alarm and communications infrastructure, each installation was completed with a focus on long-term reliability, maintainability, and appearance.

FZ participated in early design-assist planning to improve project efficiency before construction began. By leveraging in-house Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) expertise, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and prefabrication capabilities, our team identified opportunities to improve coordination and streamline installation activities. This collaborative approach created value throughout both preconstruction and construction while supporting the long-term success of the facility.

Constructing the new residence hall presented unique set of challenges. The project's central campus location, limited staging areas, and proximity to Top Taggart Field required careful planning throughout construction. Weather-related delays added additional schedule pressure, requiring project teams to continually adjust work plans and coordinate closely to maintain progress. With multiple trades working simultaneously in confined areas, proactive communication, daily planning, and ongoing hazard identification became essential to keeping work moving safely and efficiently.

Through disciplined safety practices, detailed coordination, and strong collaboration with project partners, Feyen Zylstra successfully delivered the electrical infrastructure needed to support Stadium Hall’s opening for the Fall 2026 semester. Today, the facility provides reliable electrical systems that will support student connection, learning, and community for years to come.
