West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Commercial Electrical Solutions
The West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's new headquarters was designed to serve as a hub for business development, professional growth, and community engagement throughout West Michigan. The facility provides modern office, meeting, and event spaces that support the Chamber's mission of empowering Hispanic-owned businesses and fostering economic growth across the region. The Chamber serves hundreds of members and acts as a key resource for entrepreneurs, professionals, and organizations throughout the community.
Feyen Zylstra provided the complete electrical installation for the new facility, delivering the infrastructure necessary to support the building's diverse operational, event, and technology needs. Our team installed the building's primary electrical distribution system, including the main distribution panel, multiple subpanels, lighting control panels, and transformer connections that deliver reliable power throughout the facility.
In addition to the electrical distribution system, FZ installed general power throughout the building, including receptacles, floor boxes, furniture power, HVAC equipment connections, rooftop unit power, automatic door systems, elevator-related electrical components, and exterior power infrastructure. The project also included the installation of interior and exterior lighting systems ranging from decorative fixtures and pendant lighting to site lighting, bollards, flagpole lighting, signage power, and a prominent architectural fixture within the main event space.
To enhance building performance and energy efficiency, FZ implemented an advanced nlight control system in partnership with West Michigan Lighting. This solution incorporated occupancy sensors, smart switches, touch-screen controls, power packs, and daylight harvesting capabilities, providing the Chamber with greater control, flexibility, and long-term operational efficiency.
Despite significant challenges, including winter conditions that required underground raceway installation in frozen ground following delays in the building's precast panel delivery, FZ maintained progress on an aggressive construction schedule. Success required extensive coordination with multiple trades, the design team, and specialty contractors throughout construction. Additional safety planning and confined space training were necessary to coordinate critical electrical installations associated with the elevator systems and other building infrastructure.
Throughout the project, FZ worked closely with the project's architects and engineers to help align the electrical systems with the building's intended design vision while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. Our Service team also supported the project during key utility shutdowns, assisting with transformer disconnections and re-terminations to keep the project moving forward safely and efficiently.
By combining detailed planning, strong trade coordination, and technical expertise, Feyen Zylstra delivered a reliable electrical infrastructure that will support the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's mission and continued growth for years to come.
